The AIMS-ASV is a fully autonomous surface vessel capable of supporting various surveying payloads to facilitate the Australian Institute of Marine Science's goal of quality data collection on the Great Barrier Reef for ongoing preservation. This project developed mechanical sonar scanning strategies for underwater obstacle avoidance to navigate the AIMS-ASV on hazardous and unmapped reef terrain.
